ResponsibilitiesThe EMT/Paramedic is directly accountable for the care given to patients in the Emergency Department. The duties include, but are not limited to:
responsible for the assessment and basic management of medical, trauma and environmental emergencies under the supervision of the ED RN, Charge RN or Physician
assists with patient care based on individual patient needs within the scope of practice
communicate with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology
able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment
assists in maintenance of a safe environment
QualificationsEducation and Work Experience
current and valid paramedic license issued by the state of Texas
High School Diploma or equivalent, or related experience required for new hires effective April 2014
current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current
Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) within 6 months of hire and maintain current
Facility Specific Requirements (facility May Require Items Listed Below)
ACLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current
PALS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current
