Summary[]

14-year-old Iruma Suzuki finds himself is a most peculiar and potentially dangerous situation when his parents sell his soul to a demon from the Netherworld.

Plot[]

On a fishing boat in the middle of the sea during stormy weather, young teen Iruma, forced to work the job due to his parents being too lazy to work themselves, is doing his best to make sure all of the frozen fish are stored but is unable to keep all the fish in place due to the heavy weather. When several large fish begin falling toward him, Iruma displays incredible reflexes by dodging every single one.

Just as one appears close to landing on him, Iruma suddenly notices that it has stopped in mid-air. Suddenly, the atmosphere around him changes into one of a dark dimension and Iruma spots a tall figuring before him. Noticing he is tied up, Iruma notices the figure place a "SOLD" sign on him. In the blink of an eye, Iruma now finds himself being flown through the air by the man and questions what is going on. Although he is unable to understand the man at first, he finds he can after a snap of the fingers and is horrified to learn he is now in the Netherworld after his parents sold him to the demon Sullivan.

As they fly closer to a large mansion, Iruma is frightened of what may happen next but is quite surprised when he finds himself in a lavish room and Sullivan is asking for the teen to be his grandson. The tall demon explains that he has been alone for several years and has dreamed of having a grandchild to love and spoil. Jealous that friends of his are always bragging about their grandchildren, Sullivan pleads for Iruma to be his grandson with promises of a wealthy and spoiled upbringing if he does.

Iruma questions if he can even refuse the offer since he was sold to Sullivan. The demon states that he will accept whatever Iruma decides but Iruma is unsure what he will do since he has never said no to anyone. He begins to consider turning down the offer which sends Sullivan into another desperate plea for him to stay, using words and phrases that Iruma automatically says yes to.

With an official contract signed, Iruma reflects how he is now Sullivan's grandson. Sullivan doesn't waste any time in keeping his promises as he transforms the room into Iruma's bedroom and changes his clothing to that of the school uniform of the demon school Babyls, which Iruma will start attending. Sullivan excitedly tells Iruma that the demon school he will be attending is the best there is and that he should have no trouble fitting in as long as the other demons don't find out he's human. Frightened at the thought of being eaten if he's found out, Iruma is suddenly doused with a special perfume that will hide his human scent.

Sullivan soon bids Iruma goodnight and leaves. He is happily walking down the hall when he runs into Opera who questions why their employer chose to adopt a human when he has the capabilities to adopt as many demons as he wants. Sullivan tells Opera that the reason will be clear in the future and moves on. In the room, Iruma is looking over things and realizes this is the first time he has had his own room.

In the morning, he is surprised to realize everything that happened was real and not a dream. He, Sullivan, and Opera begin making their way to the school when Sullivan asks for a photo with Iruma in front of the entrance ceremony sign where he puts another spell on Iruma that allows him to understand the demon alphabet. They near Babyls and see hundreds of students flying overhead to the school. At the school entrance gate, Sullivan and Opera part ways. Iruma begins making his way into the school when he becomes fearful of being discovered when he is called on by a member of the student council who actually warns him to head to the morning assembly.

Iruma nervously sits amongst the hundreds of demon students while telling himself to do his best not to stand out. Just then, teacher Naberius Kalego calls for silence and professor Dantalion Dali calls for everyone to sing the school anthem, the lyrics of which terrify Iruma. After the anthem is done, the school director is announced to speak next and the reveal that the director is Sullivan shocks Iruma greatly. Sullivan begins to gush about Iruma which brings unwanted attention to the teen when the student body learns that he is Sullivan's grandson.

The announcer then calls for the first-year class representative Asmodeus Alice to take the stage and deliver a speech but Sullivan changes things and has Iruma take Asmodeus' place. Incredibly nervous, Iruma begins reciting a speech Sullivan handed him and in unaware of the shock his words deliver. When he finishes, he questions what he just read and is told that it was an incredibly dangerous and forbidden spell that could have killed him if he made a single mistake but should prevent him from falling over since he said it right. With everyone thinking that Iruma was incredibly brave to say such a spell, he earns the admiration of most of the school body but is called out by Asmodeus for having usurped his place.

The angry Asmodeus cannot get over Iruma having delivered the speech and declares that he will test Iruma's skills to see if he was worthy or not in taking his place. With Asmodeus being a well-known advanced user of fire magic, the student body begins to cheer for him as he goes to attack. However, it doesn't take long for Asmodeus and the students to realize that the fire demon hasn't been able to land a single attack as Iruma has been able to dodge every single one thanks to years of having to dodge many dangerous, scary, and painful situations his parents put him through. This causes the student body to think that Iruma must see Asmodeus being beneath him which is why he hasn't attacked back.

Further angered by these allegations, Asmodeus conjures a fire sword and charges toward Iruma who once more dodges, but this puts another student at risk of being attacked. Rushing forward to stop the attack, Iruma grabs hold of Asmodeus and nearly falls over when the fall prevention spell kicks in and causes Iruma to German Supplex Asmodeus and end the fight.

News of the fight quickly spread and was given the front page of the school newspaper. In Sullivan's office, the chair-demon is thrilled that Iruma has made a name for himself, but Iruma is appalled by his actions and wishes to apologize to Asmodeus for the fight and concussion he got.

Just then, Asmodeus barges into the office and begins making his way to Iruma. The teen tries to stammer an apology but is shocked when Asmodeus suddenly kneels before him. Asmodeus admits he was bested by Iruma and was touched to learn that he had even carried Asmodeus to the infirmary. With written demon law stating that the loser of the match belongs to the winner, Asmodeus cheerfully declares himself Iruma's faithful servant.

When Asmodeus begins plans of having the school under Iruma's rule and Sullivan wanting the post the new event online, Iruma is quickly overwhelmed.
