went for a full arm wax. Price was better than most other places in town ($30) and the girl who did it was extremely thorough. She got everything, didn't rush, and was very meticulous. She was careful with the wax too which is a big plus - I've had 2 pairs of pants ruined in the past from other places when the girls got sloppy and dripped wax on my pants. The place looks like an average nail salon, it was clean. Read Less

I have to say I was very pleased with the start of my first experience at this salon. I was able to get an appointment at the last min (during prom season) and the owner actually scheduled my appt for an hour before they even opened. She ended up being the one whom did my acrylic fill. I felt as if she kinda rushed my nails, lines were crooked etc and a week later, the paint already was gone from the tips. As days past, going onto 3 weeks the bottoms of my nails actually started to crack and chip away not to mention that most of them are yellow. The top corner of one nail broke off and my other pointer nail completely came off along with my thumb nail. I know that most people get a fill in 2 weeks but I usually wait a month and have never in my life seen my nails look like this after 3 weeks, let alone 2 weeks!! I am extremely unhappy and will never return. I forgot to mention, the nail tech who worked on me did this knowing that I was looking for a permanent place to go to for my fills! You would thing she would've made a better attempt at having me come back! I would love to attach photos to this review so future customers could see but I cannot figure out how to do so. Read Less

I've been coming to Sandy's for 3 years (going on 4) to get my acrylics filled. They always come out beautifully and the nail technicians always shape my nails *exactly* how I like them! They have an awesome selection of nail polish colors! It's always fun to choose something new. Above all other positives about this place, I have to say the ladies who work here are so so sweet and always make me feel so comfortable! Definitely the BEST nail salon in Cheshire. Trust them with your nails! Read Less

One of the worst pedicures I've had. I think most of the people that work there are probably good. Unfortunately, I ended up having a bad experience and won't be back.

Sandy's Nail Salon is a hidden gem in the middle of Cheshire, a little behind a pizza place on West Main. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by the friendly staff members. They offer manicures and pedicures, of course, as well as acrylic, silk, and gel sets. There's a wide selection of polish colors and glitters, and they even do nail art! The prices are very good, at $12 for a manicure, $35 for a mani/pedi, and $25 for a new acrylic set, $18 for a fill. (As of May 2016)In addition to nail services, they do waxing and most of the staff tend to pay close attention to detail. I generally get a manicure, which is honestly so relaxing here, and includes a little hand and wrist massage. Again, there is often a lot of attention paid, down to each brush stroke. On the rare occasions that I'm unhappy with anything, my manicurist fixes it right away.My sister gets acrylics done at Sandy's. She has had bad experiences in the past at other places, and has found that the work they do at Sandy's is much higher quality. She recommends going when it's empty, though, because you don't want them rushing to finish your nails! Read Less

I love this salon. They get me in and out when I'm in a hurry, and don't mind if I'm running late. Don't listen to the bitty who gave them one star. She probably was a bad customer.

FAQs

How much did you tip at the nail salon? ›

Much like at restaurants and hair salons, the industry standard for tipping at the nail salon ranges around 15 to 20 percent, and it is generally recommended that if you've received extra services or specialty designs, a minimum of 20 percent is appreciated.

Are salon manicures worth it? ›

Maintain Healthy Nails

Regular manicures will keep your nails clean and strong, preventing breakage. As a bonus, many salons also offer treatments like a paraffin dip or nail hardening to make nails even stronger.

What are the strongest salon nails? ›

For the longest-lasting manicure, choose a gel or acrylic style. Gel nail polish is less likely to chip, and acrylic is even stronger than gel.

Who is the owner of the nail spa? ›

Shabana Karim is the founder and owner of successful UAE chain The Nail Spa.

Is $5 a good tip at a nail salon? ›

In general, it's recommended to tip 15-20% of your total bill. This is pretty standard across most service industries. This means if you spent $40 on that shiny new gel manicure, you'd be looking at tipping between $6-$8.

How much do you tip for $20 nails? ›

A 10% to 20% gratuity is standard at nail salons, but it's acceptable to leave more or less depending on factors like your budget and the service you receive.

How much should I expect to pay for nails? ›

Here is a breakdown of the cost of popular nail services:

Standard manicure: $20-$40. Standard pedicure: $25-$40. Design add-on: +$10. Acrylics (full set): $25-$120.

What is the healthiest thing to get at a nail salon? ›

Unlike traditional techniques like acrylic or gel, dip powder nails do not require any UV light exposure. This eliminates the potential harm caused by UV lights, making dip powder a healthier choice. Moreover, dip powder nails are known to be highly resistant to chipping and peeling, ensuring longer-lasting manicures.

How often should you get your nails done? ›

To really reap the benefits of these services, professionals suggest getting a manicure and pedicure every two to three weeks to keep your nails in the best shape possible. Within this time frame, your nails and cuticles will begin to dry and grow jagged and most nail varnishes or coats will also begin to chip away.

What type of nails look the best? ›

If you have short palms and short fingers, it's best to opt for rounded oval and almond shapes. For longer palms and fingers, consider dramatic stiletto or coffin (or ballerina) shaped styles. Almond shaped nails tend to suit everyone.

What are the healthiest nails to get done? ›

Choose soak-off gel nails instead of acrylic nails.

While gel nails can cause nail brittleness, peeling, and cracking, they're more flexible than acrylic nails. This means your own nails are less likely to crack.

What nail style lasts the longest? ›

If you want your manicure to last longer, you should consider getting a gel or acrylic manicure. Gel and acrylic manicures last longer and you don't have to worry about ruining your nails after doing the dishes or laundry.

What nationality owns nail salons? ›

Over half of all nail salons in the United States are owned by Vietnamese Americans. According to research conducted by the UCLA Labor Center, census data shows that more than half of the nail salon workforce is Vietnamese, with women making up the majority.

What is the largest nail salon chain? ›

Regal Nails is the largest nail salon franchise with over 800 locations in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.

Is $10 a bad tip for nails? ›

If the total for your manicure was $50, tipping $10 is a good tip since it's 20% of the total.

How much do you tip for a $60 pedicure? ›

"The tip should be part of the final price that a client expects to pay," she says. "For example, if your service costs $50, you should see it as costing $60." The widely accepted minimum tip in the industry is 15 percent, Kandalec says, but the most common tip at a nail salon is 20 percent.

How much should I tip for a $30 pedicure? ›

15% tip: A 15% tip on a $30 pedicure would amount to $4.50. This is a standard tip and is considered decent. 20% tip: A 20% tip on a $30 pedicure would amount to $6. This is a slightly higher tip and is considered generous.

How much should you tip for a $45 pedicure? ›

How much should you tip for a pedicure? Toes are no different than fingers when it comes to nail care. That means you should follow the same etiquette for how much to tip for a pedicure—15 to 20%—says Wilson.
